The costs I want to address are to our bodies, mind and spirits. Our body is a temple, our body is a machine, our body is an absolutely incredible instrument of health and vitality if treated with respect and positivity. When cancer strikes, our body has been compromised. Often, we have to ask ourselves if we could have done anything differently. Did we eat healthy MOST of the time? Were we taking time to exercise and get our heartrate up and our muscles moving? Did we sleep as much as we could to feel refreshed and rejuvenated? Did we say “No” when something was too much for us? Living the perfect life where everything healthy falls into place certainly sounds like a utopian concept. Who has time or energy to do this? The interesting thing is that when we do these healthy habits, we DO feel better and we ARE creating the most health we can produce in our bodies. We are working WITH our bodies and not AGAINST them.
Emotional tolls can go back for years, childhood traumas tend to stay locked in our cells and tissues, in our hearts and in our minds yet we do have control over changing these feelings. We can remove the emotional charge and change our stories. People who are strong survivors have healthy self-concepts and believe in themselves. They deal with the tough emotions and don’t let others control their lives, their thoughts or their feelings. Again this all sounds like utopia but my challenge to you is to think about what lies dormant or stuck within you and pull that out and release in a healthy way. Create a new story for yourself. Create a lighter life, one not burdened with victim language or intense feelings of being stuck. You control this!
Spiritual growth takes on many forms. We may be attracted to and follow a specific religion – Christianity, Buddhism, Jewish faith and all of these give people purpose and values. How we choose to acknowledge spiritual practices is our choice and can be very powerful healers in any health crisis. Lean on those beliefs whenever you feel moved to do so.
Our program LAFF2LIVE addresses Lifestyle, Attitude, Food, and Faith and all of these elements are areas we can control. Through education, practice and commitment we can use them to our advantage when our health may take an unexpected turn. Are you taking care of these areas in your life? At what cost are you skimping on your body, mind, and spirit? We always say it is best to plant a tree yesterday (or years ago!) but starting today is the next best thing. Take a hard look at what is costing you good health and make those changes today. You got this!!!
