MAMMOGRAMS HAVE RISKS, LESSER-KNOWN BREAST CANCER SPREADING

According to the 2024 survey, women who delayed mammograms typically had low breast cancer risk and were concerned about overdiagnosis and the resulting harms.

“Commonly stated reasons for delaying screening included lack of family history, low cancer risk, and concern about screening harms,” the study authors said.

Although mammography can save lives through early detection, it also comes with certain risks, including false positives, unnecessary biopsies, and overdiagnosis, with false positives being quite common.

The survey discovered that 239 out of 1,000 women who did breast cancer screenings between 40 and 49 years of age received a false positive result.

A Message From Our Executive Director

WHY PUEBLO? "Aren't people murdered there?"

A Question I am Constantly Asked

The Becky Baker Foundation is the only breast cancer Resource Center in the United States, and it’s located in the Pueblo Mall, Pueblo, Colorado. Our Center  offers No Cost shopping  to any family affected by breast cancer.

Since we opened eight months ago, we’ve done amazing things and even gone beyond what we set out to do. We’ve helped over 11,000 shoppers, 1,400 families, and given over $3 million in new merchandise to these Colorado families who’ve been touched by breast cancer.

The Pueblo Mall has been super generous and donated the store space to the Foundation, and The United Breast Cancer Foundation has given us all the new merchandise to distribute to these families for free.

So, why Pueblo?  (Click the button to continue reading)

Best-selling author Rick Baker launched The Becky Baker Foundation after his wife passed away from stage IV breast cancer, a disease he knew little about when she was first diagnosed.

Since that fateful day, Rick has strived to know more about breast cancer and shares here how you too can know enough to help prevent breast cancer in your loved one, or if already present, how to provide meaningful and powerful support that your family member needs to fight this evil disease. Can't afford it? Email Rick, he will send you a free copy. (rb@beckybakerfdn.org)
